AOTD: This one's a humdinger

Commissioner warns of homosexual "social and sexual agenda"

In essence, a gay/lesbian group has organized a little event to draw attention to the harassment and bullying to which gay/lesbian students are subject. And some district commissioner is opposed because "no group of citizens should be given government sanction and support to promote their social and sexual agenda upon the rest of us and especially, on our children."

From the Christian point of view, being gay is like being a meth user. It's something you choose, something you can overcome if you want to and work at it, and it's horrifically bad for you. Oh, and it's really, really attractive to your poor innocent children. Reefer Madness comes to mind here.

Okay, let's leave aside here the question of whether you choose to be gay or not (xtians say yes, I say no way). How petulant, how very 3 year old of him (/them, because many xtians would agree I think), to say "I don't give a shit that my precious little snowflake is beating up your little fag...we don't want to SANCTION that kind of SINFUL LIFE". You are in essence saying that gay kids deserve to get beaten up and harrassed.

Am I the only one who remembers how hard it was to be a kid? And I wasn't even gay, or black, or anything particularly targeted. (Being a geek doesn't much count.)

And he makes a particular point that the school won't allow a "moment of silence for God". Um, dude? Teach your kids to pray all day long, every hour on the hour and extra at mealtimes. God doesn't need awareness of Him raised in school, that's your job.
